Mr Rotimi David graduated from medical school in 2006 as the overall best graduating doctor, and with a distinction in pharmacology. He subsequently completed specialist urology training lasting about 15 years and spread across Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, the USA and the United Kingdom.
In 2021/2022, he was trained in Laser prostatectomy (HoLEP) in Salisbury by Mr James Brewin, the surgeon who introduced this highly specialised operation in the Wessex region of the UK.
Thereafter, in 2023, Mr David was appointed as a consultant urological surgeon at the Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where he has successfully introduced HoLEP, Steam prostate treatment (REZUM), Laser treatment for bladder cancer (TULA), flexible ureteroscopy using digital scopes for management of kidney stones and other innovations into the urology service.
Patients frequently describe him as having a warm and reassuring smile, an attentive listening style, and a calm, gentle manner. He takes time to explain conditions and treatment options clearly and thoroughly, combining deep expertise with a compassionate, patient-centred approach.
Outside of work, Rotimi David supports a local church charity and relaxes by spending time with family, while also developing his skills as an amateur chef.

- Rotimi David has reviewed manuscripts for many journals, including BMC Urology.
- He has also served as the local lead for multiple national studies and audits, including BOOMERANG, COVIDStones, RESECT, the BXO trial, and the IDENTIFY study.
